The Marine Corps Casualty Notification procedures were recently changed. The changes were small, but significant, and I wanted to communicate the pertinent changes to the families. During our family readiness training last June, we taught that fatality notifications would be made in the Dress Blue uniform. That has now been changed to the Service Alpha uniform. The Service Alpha uniform is the one that looks like a dark green, fitted business suit with an exterior belt. The shirt and tie are kahki colored.
There are no specific events that prompted me to post this. I simply wanted to ensure you had the latest information, especially since several family members had asked specific questions about the casualty notification uniform during our training last June. If you have further questions about this, fell free to e-mail me or either of the two Gunnery Sergeants at the addresses below: hilltw@mfr.usmc.mil harpcg@mfr.usmc.mil thompsonl@mfr.usmc.mil
