From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on 16 April 2005, the Peacetime/Wartime Support Team (PWST), TOW Platoon, 23d Marines and Supporting Family members will host a return reunion parade event in conjunction with the Lafayette Consolidated Government. The event will start at East Lewis St. and will proceed down Cajun Blvd, then to Cajun Fields ending near the Football Stadium. There is a map of the parade route below.
There will be a ceremony at the football stadium folloiwng the parade. The parade and post parade speaking will be in an open area parking lot near the football stadium. No seating available. You may want to bring a lawn chair if you want to sit. No limit on family members Marines can bring and it will be open to the public.
There will be a designated parking area at the football stadium. Police will instruct everyone where to park.
Participants in the parade will meet at Reserve Training Center on April 16, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. for formation.
You can expect a plethora of dignitaries and government officials and veterans groups and support groups in addition to the Marines of the TOW Platoon, 23rtd Marines who are being honored for their outstanding service to our country. Rumor has it the Govermor may even be there to honor our heros.
Family Day will follow the parade! 12 to 3 PM at the Reserve Center. (Unit HQ on the map below). The limit is 7 guests per Marine. There will be chairs at the Family Day gathering.
